Getting Started
- What is Filmlovr?
- A social network where your taste in film is your identity. Build a library, write reviews, and find people whose taste matches yours.
- Is Filmlovr free?
- Yes. Core features are free; some advanced features may be gated as we grow.
- How do I sign up?
- Use Google, Apple, or magic-link email from the sign-in modal or sidebar form on the home page.
Account & Security
- How do I change my email or display name?
- Profile and account settings are available once signed in.
- How do I delete my account?
- Account deletion options live in account settings. We hard-delete personal data and anonymize public contributions.
- How do I block another user?
- Block surfaces are available on every user profile. Blocking removes follows in both directions, hides their content from your feeds, and removes you from theirs.
Library, Reviews & Lists
- What is the difference between Loved, Watched, Bookmarked, and Ignored?
- These are the four shelves of your library. Loved is your taste signal; Watched is the log; Bookmarked is your queue; Ignored hides films from recommendations.
- What is a Lovebite?
- A short note on a film, capped at 120 characters. You can keep one Lovebite per film and edit it later. Browse recent reviews when you want more room.
- What level do I need to write reviews?
- Reviews unlock at Level 3 — roughly 30 minutes of genuine engagement. The level gate filters low-effort contributions. See the review format in action before you start.
Discovery & Social
- How does discovery work?
- Swipe-based browsing with deep filters. Random within filters — the fun is the randomness. Try Discover.
- What is Linkr?
- A six-degrees-of-separation game across the film and people graph. Find the shortest path between any two films, actors, or directors. Play Linkr.
- How do recommendations work?
- When 3+ friends with high taste correlation love the same film, that signal surfaces. The same signal powers curated lists and the Q&A index, where the people whose taste matches yours surface the films and answers worth your time.
Troubleshooting
- I'm not receiving the magic link email.
- Check spam. If it still doesn’t arrive, wait 60 seconds for the resend timer to clear and try again.
- Something is broken.
- Reach out via the contact link in the footer. Include the page URL and what you were doing.
