About These Terms

These terms govern your use of Filmlovr at https://filmlovr.com. Filmlovr is a service operated by Codecoded Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11558140) with registered office at C/O Glx, 69-75 Thorpe Road, Norwich NR1 1UA ("we", "us", "Filmlovr"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Filmlovr.

Account Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Filmlovr. By creating an account you represent and warrant that you meet this minimum age requirement. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us at legal@filmlovr.com if you discover any unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that are used in breach of these terms.

Your Content and License Grant

You retain ownership of the reviews, lists, lovebites, comments, questions, answers, and other content you create on Filmlovr ("Your Content"). By posting Your Content with public or followers-only visibility you grant Filmlovr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for technical purposes such as resizing or reformatting), display, distribute, and make available Your Content within the service and in marketing materials promoting the service. The license terminates when you delete the content or your account, except that copies retained in routine backups remain under license until those backups are cycled out (typically within 30 days). You represent that you own or have the rights to Your Content and that posting it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

Acceptable Use

Filmlovr is a place for film discussion. You may not post content that is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, hateful, threatening, harassing, or invasive of another person's privacy. You may not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or entity. You may not post sexual content depicting real people, content that exploits or endangers minors, or content that incites violence or hatred against protected groups. You may not use Filmlovr to send spam, distribute malware, scrape data without our written permission, automate access in a way that interferes with the service, attempt to bypass authentication or rate limits, or reverse-engineer our systems. Discussion of mature themes in films (violence, sexuality, drug use, controversial subject matter) is permitted in good faith — Filmlovr is for cinephiles, not censors. Discussion that crosses into the harmful conduct above is not.

Moderation and Account Actions

Every user submission is screened by automated moderation before it is published. Submissions that fail moderation may be blocked, hidden, or flagged for human admin review. Repeated failures may result in account suspension. Filmlovr admins may also remove content or suspend accounts when they receive credible reports of policy violations or when content is otherwise harmful. We aim to act proportionately and to prefer hiding content over deleting it where the conduct can be corrected. If your content has been moderated or your account has been suspended and you believe the action was wrong, you may appeal by contacting legal@filmlovr.com — we aim to review appeals within seven calendar days.

AI-Generated Content

Filmlovr provides AI-generated avatar creation as a feature. When you generate an avatar, the input you supply (a film character and film context) is sent to third-party AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy, and the resulting image is stored on your account. You retain whatever rights are granted to you under the terms of the upstream AI providers — typically a licence to use the generated image for personal and Filmlovr profile use. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of generated avatars complies with all applicable laws and the rights of third parties, including any rights of publicity, trademark, copyright, or moral rights attached to the characters or actors you depict. Filmlovr does not warrant that generated content is original, unique, free from third-party rights, or fit for any particular purpose, and disclaims all liability arising from your use of generated content to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Copyright and DMCA

Filmlovr respects copyright. If you believe content on Filmlovr infringes your copyright, you can submit a notice under the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) or its UK equivalents. The notice and counter-notice procedures and our designated agent contact are published at https://filmlovr.com/dmca. We respond promptly to valid notices, terminate accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances, and reserve the right to seek damages for materially false notices.

Film Metadata and Third-Party Rights

Film and person metadata, posters, backdrops, and similar reference content displayed on Filmlovr are sourced from public databases (including The Movie Database) and remain the property of their respective rights holders. The Filmlovr brand, codebase, original editorial content, and aggregated user-generated taste data are owned by Filmlovr or licensed to us. You may not scrape, copy, redistribute, or build derivative products on top of Filmlovr's data without our written permission.

Disclaimers

Filmlovr is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under applicable law. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any content posted by users or sourced from third-party databases. Recommendations surfaced through the social graph or AI features are informational only and do not constitute professional advice of any kind. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Filmlovr will not be liable to you for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the service. Our aggregate liability to you for all claims arising under these terms or your use of Filmlovr is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or (b) one hundred pounds sterling (£100). Nothing in this clause limits liability that cannot be limited under English law, including statutory consumer rights for users acting as consumers under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify Filmlovr and its officers, employees, and agents against claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the service in breach of these terms, or your violation of any third-party right.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time from account settings. Deletion is hard delete — see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your data. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we reasonably believe you have materially breached these terms, used the service for fraud or illegal purposes, or pose a security risk. We will provide reasons where practical. The clauses of these terms that by their nature should survive termination — license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law — survive.

Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice or email at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at this URL. Continued use of Filmlovr after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not accept a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of Filmlovr, except that if you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom or in another jurisdiction where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts, that right is preserved. Before bringing a formal claim, please contact legal@filmlovr.com so we can attempt to resolve the matter directly.

General

These terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Filmlovr regarding the service and supersede any prior agreements. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right. You may not assign these terms without our written consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Notices to Filmlovr should be sent to legal@filmlovr.com.
